PROJECT CASE STUDY

A Holiday Favorite: Fortune 500 Grocery Company Needs POS Displays

Our client is a large consumer packaged goods company supplying beloved holiday staples to dinner tables across the country. They reached out to us to produce point of sale (POS) displays for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

THE CHALLENGE

Due to limited production capacity at the customer’s facility, the components of the display had to be produced over several months leading up to the holiday season. Each component required storage until every piece was ready for assembly.

THE OUTCOME

  • We provided more than 100,000 square feet of food grade storage distribution space
  • We built 18,000+ POS display pallets in several different configurations
  • We coordinated with the customer, the carriers, and the grocers to deliver hundreds of truckloads and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments across the continental United States
  • We were rewarded with their seasonal business and much more

THE CAN-DO SOLUTION

The volume of this project required 100,000 square feet of food grade distribution space over 9 months, and the capability to ship 400 truckloads in a small window. This frees up the client’s production space in order to meet their seasonal timeline.

A Variety of Solutions: Global Discount Grocery Chain Requires Packing Efficiency

Our client is a popular, family-owned global discount grocery chain that markets both private label and branded goods. They consistently work with us to receive bulk goods and create variety packs for display ready cases (DRCs).

THE CHALLENGE

Variety packing can be a detriment to most packing lines. The efficiency of high-speed packing can be lost due to bottlenecking when mixing goods. And mixing goods can make it difficult to maintain food safety guidelines. CAN-DO possesses the ability to pack these goods in multiple temperatures ranging from 38ᵒF, 55ᵒF, and ambient.

THE OUTCOME

  • We are currently packing over 20,000 cases per day for multiple customers
  • We contracted with multiple suppliers to receive goods in bulk cases
  • We form DRCs according to the client’s specifications
  • We maintained 100% traceability to meet food safety guidelines
  • We stacked the product to pallet, stretch wrapped each one and returned it to our warehouse, where it enters our onsite consolidation program that encompasses the continental United States

THE CAN-DO SOLUTION

We work directly with our client’s suppliers to receive bulk product and then ship the completed variety packs directly to their distribution centers. This eliminates extra shipping and storage costs and creates a more efficient and environmentally-friendly process.

Have a Complex Job? We CAN DO it

We can take your bulk product and efficiently and safely repackage it into attractive variety packs to provide more options to the consumer, all while maintaining environmental, food safety, and production best practices.

A Special Wrap: Major Soft Drink Manufacturer Requests Specialty Club Pack

Our client is a major soft drink manufacturer whose products can be found in every major retailer. They had an opportunity to create a specialty pack of their large drink containers with a customized, registered label for Sam’s Cub, Costco, and BJ’s.

THE CHALLENGE

The project required packaging equipment capable of bundling trays with printed/registered film – which was not readily available. Additionally, the project was considered both high-volume and urgent.

THE OUTCOME

  • We purchased the equipment necessary to bundle the product with the required film
  • We expedited the equipment to meet the client’s timeline
  • We customized a program to accommodate the daily volume and seasonal spikes of 21,000+ cases per day
  • We provided storage and distribution capabilities

THE CAN-DO SOLUTION

We contracted with our client to store their product in our warehouse until it was ready for transport. We also facilitated shipping directly to our client’s retailers, eliminating additional transportation and handling expenses resulting in a savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Have an Overwhelming Job? We CAN DO it.

We know that when lucrative business opportunities come your way, you want to make them happen. We will work with you to source the right equipment, provide the right space, and develop a solution that drives your business forward.

A Glass Half Full: Consumer Packaged Goods Company Wants to Sort Flawed Jars

Our client is a well-known consumer packaged goods company. Upon realizing a flaw in production, they turned to us to create a customized inspection that would minimize production downtime.

THE CHALLENGE

A production flaw affecting 2.1 million glass jars left our client with a problem they needed help with. Each jar had to be inspected, sorted, and the damaged jars recycled. This needed to be performed in a safe area that adhered to compliance standards.

THE OUTCOME

  • We created a safe area to contain glass that adhered to glass and brittle plastic food safety policies
  • We designed a customized inspection process within the containment area
  • We sorted 2.1 M jars by a compliant/non-compliant set of standards
  • We bulk packaged compliant jars as originally received and returned them to our storage area
  • We bulk packaged non-compliant jars and delivered 370,000 pounds of glass to a recycling center

THE CAN-DO SOLUTION

We successfully kept pace with our client’s production and minimized downtime at their packaging facility. Approximately 66% of the jars were salvaged and returned to our client while the remainder were recycled.
